Terms of service

Share the rough stuff. Respect everyone's work.

These terms set the rules for accounts, publishing, teams, jobs and paid plans on Roughs.

Effective October 30, 2026

About these terms

These terms are an agreement between you and 9533-9107 Québec inc., doing business as Ulba Studio ("Roughs", "we"). By creating an account or using Roughs, you agree to them and to our Privacy policy.

You must be 18 or older, or have permission from a parent or guardian who agrees to these terms for you. If you use Roughs for a studio or company, you confirm you're allowed to act for it.

Roughs is currently invite-only. An invitation doesn't guarantee permanent access.

Your account

Use accurate information and keep your password and email secure. Tell us right away if you think someone else got into your account. You're responsible for what happens through it. Don't sell, share or transfer your account or invitations, or create accounts with bots.

Your work

You keep ownership of everything you post. You confirm you have the rights to share it, including permission from clients, collaborators and anyone shown in it.

You give us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to host, store, resize and display your work, only to run Roughs: in feeds, profiles, search, notifications and link previews. We may also feature public work to promote Roughs, always crediting you.

This licence ends when you delete the work, except for copies kept briefly in backups, work others have lawfully shared, or what we must keep for legal or safety reasons.

Community rules

Don't use Roughs to:

  • post work you don't own or have the right to share, or pass off someone else's work as yours;
  • harass, threaten, impersonate or discriminate against anyone;
  • post illegal, sexually explicit, hateful or deliberately harmful content;
  • spam, scrape data, fake likes, follows or views, or run unauthorized bots;
  • upload malware, test our security without permission, get around access limits or disrupt Roughs;
  • lie about your credentials, clients, job offers or pay.

You can report a post, profile or job from its menu.

Moderation

We review reports by hand. Depending on how serious a problem is, we may remove content, send a warning, suspend an account for seven days, or ban it. We tell you by email and explain why. If you think we got it wrong, write to hi@roughs.design to appeal.

Jobs

Job listings are published by the companies that post them. We review listings, but we're not the employer or a recruiter, and we don't guarantee any offer. Check the company and the role before applying or sharing personal information.

Teams

A Team belongs to the member who pays for it. The owner manages its members and settings, and is responsible for its content.

Paid plans

  • Pro and Team plans are billed monthly or yearly through Stripe. Prices and any applicable taxes are shown before you pay.
  • Plans renew automatically until you cancel. You can cancel anytime in Settings and keep access until the end of the period you paid for.
  • Switching to a cheaper plan or a shorter billing period takes effect at the end of the paid period.
  • If a payment fails, we retry it for a short time. If it still fails, the plan ends.
  • When Pro ends, your published work stays and can still be edited, but nothing new beyond the Free limits. When Team ends, the Team is hidden and its data is kept, and it comes back if you renew.

Except where the law requires it, payments for a period that has already started aren't refunded. Nothing in these terms limits your rights under Quebec's Consumer Protection Act.

Our property

The Roughs name, logo, design and software belong to us. Don't copy them, use them as your own, or reverse engineer Roughs.

Availability

We work to keep Roughs running, but it may change, pause or have bugs, especially during the beta. We may change or remove features.

Liability

To the extent the law allows, we're not responsible for indirect losses, like lost profits, business, opportunities or data, or for disputes between members. If you use Roughs for business, our total liability in any 12-month period is limited to the greater of CA$100 or what you paid us in that period. None of this limits the rights the law gives you as a consumer.

Ending access

You can stop using Roughs anytime, deactivate your account in Settings, or ask us to delete it. We may suspend or close an account for serious or repeated breaches of these terms, for legal reasons or for safety.

Law

These terms are governed by the laws of Quebec and the laws of Canada that apply there. Disputes go to the courts of Quebec, without limiting your rights as a consumer.

Changes

We may update these terms. For important changes, we'll tell members by email or on Roughs before they take effect. If you keep using Roughs after that, the new terms apply; if you don't agree, you can close your account.
